This week in social media I am going to talk about how people use social media to entertain one another. My main example of this is when people post YouTube videos on a friend's wall, or tag them in the post. Recently a friend of mine did this very thing and right after i got the notification he sent me a text message saying that he just posted the most hilarious video and that I should go check it out. (which of course I did) This got me thinking about how very often this type of thing happens, not just within my circle of friends but in groups all over the world. Humans love to laugh and love to share laughter, and social media has given us a new way to do that. Before YouTube and Facebook, sharing a joke was so much harder, and sometimes the humor was lost if a person couldn't tell the joke correctly. But now that a joke can be sent to numerous recipients at a time we never have to worry about missing the punch line or not being able to do that voice just right. We have infinite access to all the jokes and silly cat videos the web has to offer, and we just have to share the laughter.

  1. This is a great point that you are making about these social media sites and how the spreading of laughter and happiness is constantly happening now. But on the other hand these social media sites are spreading hatred and cyber bullying constantly. This is something that needs to be monitored much more closely because cyber bullying is a real problem and if it is not taken under control then more and more kids will continue to feel worse and worse about themselves. But you are correct in saying how jokes and laughter are being spread through these social media sites.

    Good post.
